Every organization will face an executive transition, yet only a fraction actually discuss or plan for such a change. BoardSource reports that just 29% of nonprofit organizations have some type of succession or transition plan on-hand. As the saying goes, hope is not a strategy and that certainly holds true when it comes to leadership changes at the top. Nonprofit boards and leaders have much to gain from bucking this trend. Transitional periods bring a unique window of time when organizations can grow, develop, and thrive, or they can struggle. This session explores how boards and leaders can benefit from proactive approaches that foster transition readiness and mitigate risks that hinder mission impact.
