This presentation is designed as a follow up to the 2025 conference keynote panel on Medical Aid in Dying. The goal is to enable conference participants to increase their knowledge of MAID and sharpen their own perspective on its legalization. The presenters provide the participants with the latest, most up-to-date information about this timely and critical topic in the United States and the Minnesota End of Life Option Act. It includes the detailed descriptions of Medical Aid in Dying, the process to access and use it, the primary arguments for and against MAID, and the content and current status of the proposed legislation in Minnesota. Q & A follows the presentation.

Learning Outcomes

Participants in this workshop will 1) gain accurate, current information about the medical practice of MAID in the US, 2) enhance their understanding of the proposed legislation in Minnesota, and 3) clarify their own responses to families and patients who raise questions about MAID in the course of their care at end of life.
