This is a case-based interdisciplinary presentation sharing the lessons learned from an Intersection of the traditional Tibetan Buddhist spiritual perspectives and modern western end-of-life healthcare. It will highlight how hospice team can play an effective role in providing a culturally sensitive, person & family centered care for a dying Tibetan Buddhist.

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to: (1) Identify fundamental Tibetan Buddhist spiritual beliefs and practices in the care of dying persons and families.
(2) Understand the significance of meditation on death and dying as a Buddhist spiritual practice. 
(3) Appreciate the importance of the moment of death for a dying Tibetan Buddhist person and families.
