Description

Racial disparities in hospice use highlight significant inequities in end-of-life care access and utilization. Studies have consistently revealed that some minority populations are less likely to enroll in hospice care compared to their white counterparts. This quality improvement effort explored the data of a local hospice agency in Minnesota and proposed possible interventions to improve outcomes for BIPOC populations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review trends & disparities in use of hospice among different minority populations.
  • Explore hospice enrollment and disenrollment patterns at a hospice agency in urban Minnesota.
  • Identify factors that may lead to or contribute to decreased initial enrollment and/or increased disenrollment of BIPOC patients.
