Dannell Shu BFA, MWS faced the tremendous difficulty of grieving while learning how to parent her preschooler after the death of her seven year old son. Sourcing from her extensive work as a Parent Advocate and since 2014 (Pediatric Palliative Care Coalition of MN, National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care Pediatric Division, University of Minnesota Pediatric End-of-Life Skills Workshop) picture books became her family’s go-to resource. Through RedBird, Dannell has curated the Grief Picture Book Guide to help families and providers find pathways for supporting grieving children.
