Join us in February for Scribente Maternum Retreat 2021!
Scribente Maternum is a writing retreat for parents serving in the ever-important maternal role. It is a space where creativity, connection and care are nourished and cultivated. It is the call to action to do something even bigger through collective care and because of our writing.
Over a series of four 2.5-hour sessions, we will explore our emotions as parents, provide space for ourselves to recharge, find space to write and create, connect with other writers, and engage in a plan to carry what we experience forward through personal and collective action.
Where do you wish you could be?
You want to sit, uninterrupted, to finish that essay or article or novel that’s been living with you for months. Maybe years. But in the midst of the chaos of everyday life, you never find the time.
You want to unwind with a hot cup of tea or chilled glass of wine and your favorite journal and most comfortable pen. But with endless distractions and mile-long to-do lists, you never find the time.
You want to sit down with a piece of paper and literally anything to write with. You want enough time to let thoughts flow freely from a calm space. But with hundreds of responsibilities pulling you in a thousand directions, you never find the time.
Self-care is about more than bubble baths and a massage. It’s about finding the time. It's about restoring your energy to be present for yourself and others.
Self-care is about finding time for the things that bring you joy. The things that you care about. The things that fill your empty cup.
And "Collective Care" is the amazing community that’s created when we all start pouring from a full cup.
What will I gain?
- Tools to create the head space for writing.
- Time to write. Sometimes while we’re together and sometimes in the weeks between.
- A private online community, established for free during our four weeks together.
- Purposeful movements that we never make time for and that will carry us through the week ahead.
- Intimate writing groups that grow into networks and lifelong friendships.
- Connections to a unique writing community of parents.
- A life forever changed.

Pen Parentis Accountability Group Facilitators
We are immensely grateful to the mom writers who take time to serve as Pen Parentis accountability group facilitators. Every week, they motivate us and guide us in our small groups. All week long, they engage us and question us in our online community. We are thankful for their leadership and we are richer for their friendship.
We are proud to feature all of our Pen Parentis accountability group facilitators on our website. Facilitators also receive a discount on retreat registration. If you are interested in serving as a facilitator, please let us know!
