Conducting goals of care conversations with seriously ill individuals can be challenging and requires skill and expertise.  Research has shown that the use of a structured framework and communication techniques can improve overall communication and the satisfaction of both the patient and the clinician.  During this presentation, utilization of a communication framework for conducting goals of care conversation will be introduced.  Techniques and expert tools will be discussed to assist clinicians to navigate through some of the more challenging communication scenarios that may arise during serious illness communication.
