Provider awarding contact hours: Minnesota Network of Hospice & Palliative Care is the provider of contact hours. Minnesota Medical Association is the joint provider for CMEs.

Goal:  To provide primary and specialty palliative care education to health care professionals serving adult patients with serious illnesses.

 

Learning Objectives -- Upon successful completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Define palliative care.
  2. Describe who can benefit from palliative care services.
  3. Identify pain types commonly seen in palliative care settings.
  4. Describe the broad categories of pain treatment options.
  5. Distinguish the ethical principles underlying palliative sedation.
  6. Recognize different approaches to introducing palliative care.
  7. Describe how Advance Care Planning (ACP) can help patients and families in their decision making.
  8. Explain the legal and ethical framework that allows VSED.
  9. Recognize grief responses in a cultural context.

 

Contact Hours: The Essential Palliative Summit has been designed to meet 8 contact hours for Music Therapy and 9 contact hours for the disciplines listed below.
